In order to be able to understand and detect situations involving any level of corruption and/ or bribery, it is important that all employees in Thornico work within the same frame of reference of these concepts. The following definitions therefore explain what is considered corruption, bribery and extortion in Thornico. • Corruption: The abuse of entrusted power for private gain (can be both financial and non-financial) Bribery: An offer or receipt of any gift, loan, fee reward or other advantage to or from any person as an inducement to do something which is dishonest, illegal or a breach of trust, in the conduct of the enterprise’s business. Extortion: The solicitation of bribes is the act of asking or enticing another to commit bribery. It becomes extortion when this demand is accompanied by threats that endanger the personal integrity or the life of the private actors involved. HORNICO takes great pride in preventing and working against any illegal, corrupt or oppressing actions. In its commitment to “economy”, Thornico takes great measures to secure transparent business practices and avoiding any form for corruption. All group companies in Thornico must therefore follow an internal anticorruption policy. Dedicated to these efforts, Thornico dissociates itself from any supplier encouraging corruption, extortion, bribery or any form for illegal or oppressing action.
